Lucero Tena & Orquesta Dirigida por Jose Maria Franco Gil / Guitarra Victor Monje “Serranito” – “Leccion de Castanuelas (Lessons of Castanets)” (Hispa Vox 10-286). Excellent 1964 LP by the Mexican born flamenco dancer who has been a resident of Spain since 1958. According to Tena, she “studied ballet with Nina Chestakova for eight years, and Spanish dance with the Madrid dancer Emilia Diaz, who taught her the dances of the rich Spanish folklore, the bolero school of the eighteenth century and the classical dances of Spanish composers like Falla , Albeniz, Granados, Turina, etc. ". After meeting the great dancer Carmen Amaya , on tour in Mexico, by chance he invited her to join as a replacement, after which she became part of the company. With Amaya she toured Mexico and the United States for three years, until 1957. In 1958 she went to Madrid, where she danced for several years in the famous Corral de la Moreria (opened in May 1956) as the leading figure. Later he would create she created her own set of flamenco, and often would make foreign tours. An exceptional " dancer ", ahe is also an extraordinary performer of castanets, including interpreting classics, to the point that Joaquín Rodrigo dedicated his two Spanish dances in 1966.
