Ping Pong is the fourth full-length effort from Miami, FL garage rockers Jacuzzi Boys. The band relocated to the West Coast to cut the album, holing up at an LA Studio where singer/guitarist Gabriel Alcala, bassist Danny Gonzales, and drummer Diego Monasteri, listened to a lot of the Breeders' 1993 classic Last Splash. Muscular lead single "Boys Like Blood," is chock full of thick, fuzzy guitars and a meaty chorus which proclaims, 'Girls like love and boys like blood."
"This one is kind of more of a rocking record – more stripped down, with less overdubs. It has kind of more of a live sound except for a few songs that use the studio element to make it more freaked out and weirder," Alcala tells Miami New Times. And the album got its name from the band's new favorite form of recreation. "Where we recorded, there was a Ping-Pong table. We constantly – every time we took a break – we'd go play Ping-Pong. It's also a metaphor for the highs and lows of stuff – the party and the hangover – if that makes sense."
