DUNCAN BROWNE “Give Me Take You” rare Canadian pressing PSYCH FOLK – IMMEDIATE RECORDS listen

1968/Canada/Immediate Records Z12 52012….. here’s an original pressing  of this scarce folk psych pop lp. The cover is in solid VG condition with light shelf wear, corner wear, 1" seam wear on the bottom seam at the center, there is a 1/2" seam split there, small delete hole top right corner, staining on lower right corner mainly(see pics), small scratch top left, otherwise the cover is solid and clean with no splits. The vinyl is in glossy VG+ to VG++ condition. There is a small patch of grit scratches near the end of track four and a bit into track five on side two. The vinyl plays excellent other than the light ticks you hear as you pass this area. The grade was dropped mainly due to this small patch of scratches. I have recorded these two tracks from the record being offered. I have not doctored the sound in any way. Clean labels. Includes the lyric insert which is lightly aged and has a small delete hole. Duncan Browne's melancholy first album, Give Me Take You -- released on music impresario Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate label in August of 1968 -- is one wonderfully tender album. Many who only discovered it well after its original release compare its dulcet introspective tone to Nick Drake's albums. It does fall into a similar English folk vein, though Browne's arrangements are, on the whole, more Baroque, giving the album a semi-classical, regal feel. Browne charted his own classical arrangements and wrote out vocal charts for a choir, but turned to his art school friend David Bretton for song lyrics. It's Bretton's lovely Pre-Raphaelite-style phrases, used here in the guise of lyrical content, that fans of this album often react strongly to, one way or another. True, there's a youthful innocence and melancholy that come off as somewhat naïve-sounding, mawkish, and awkward in our modern age -- "Better a tear of truth than smiling lies" is one example -- but this is a minor quibble. Immediate issued only one single from the album, "On the Bombsite," but it failed to connect with listeners. At the time of its release, Oldham's Immediate Records was reportedly falling apart. He was in financial ruin and reportedly cut the sessions short to save money.

MINT: as stated with no defects

NEAR MINT: as stated near Mint!, or Mint Minus, same thing, very clean with no defect to sound or visual appearance, one scuff or mark may be permitted but it will be mentioned in the description, a near Mint record looks and plays very clean

EXCELLENT: not much below near Mint, may have a delete hole and/or a minor defect or two not visually detracting from the cover, the vinyl will appear shiny and in clean condition with very minor defects not affecting the sound, still very clean and very collectable!

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal cover wear and/or delete/splits, still visually appealing, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much

VG+ a little more cover/ring wear and delete, splits etc., the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects, both cover and vinyl no matter the condition.
