In the days one-album-a-year contract with music label was pretty common, absence of 8 years could mean the band is dead. Even if the band managed to restart, are there market enough to boost the sales of the album? Boston with this third album in 1986 did such miracle like a phoenix from the ashes. Also this title is one of my all-time top favarite albums.

The album despite the fact it produced three huge hits including Amanda which became first #1 single for the band, is a concept album describing the third huge leap in your life stage. So the core track is three-parted THE LAUNCH with very progressive approach, rare for the music during 80s. The rest are carefully chosen to fit the very theme of the album.

AMANDA opening and the band's biggest hit also has reprises in the album such as MY DESTINATION or partly HOLLYANNA the last track. WE'RE READY which became the second biggest hit from the album works as a prelude to the opus THE LAUNCH. THE LAUNCH is the instrumental which provides the very reason you buy this album and listen to the album as a whole work. COOL THE ENGINES set the tone back to pop-oriented side of the album while A NEW WORLD resides as a last stand for the pompous rock the symbol of 70s progressive rock. Boston are truly a worldwide sensation to rock music and guitar enthusiasts everywhere. Their music continues to be some of the most played on radio stations all over the globe, thanks to the many hit tracks and multi-platinum albums that have followed this much loved band since their smash debut Boston from 1976.

Led by Tom Scholz, the mastermind producer/guitarist/songwriter and fronted by the late superstar vocalist Brad Delp, Boston delivered an amazing second LP with the chart topping Don’t Look Back. More than a decade in the making, Boston's latest effort, Life, Love & Hope features 11 tracks replete with the classic and beloved Boston sound, as well as the latest in the evolution of Tom Scholz' musical artistry. Diverse yet cohesive, this long-awaited album has something for everyone and will fulfill the expectations of existing fans, while exposing a new generation to one of rock and roll’s great acts. 
Scholz says, "These are songs from the heart, each of them taking many months of effort to write, arrange, perform and record, always up to the demands of Boston's harshest critic, me. They have all been meticulously recorded to analogue tape on the same machines and equipment used for Boston's hits for the past 35 years."
Life, Love & Hope includes lead vocals from Brad Delp and prodigy Tommy DeCarlo, as well as Kimberley Dahme, David Victor, and songwriter Scholz himself. This release features tracks that have the characteristic Boston trademark guitars, harmonies, and immaculately-crafted sound. "I intentionally stayed close to the early Boston style on some of the songs, even using the same amps and instruments; on others I let my imagination run wild," adds Scholz.
Boston burst onto the music scene with their eponymous best-selling debut album in 1976, and never looked back. With over 17 million copies sold, Boston generated hits such as "More Than a Feeling," "Peace of Mind," and "Smokin'," rock staples that are still in heavy rotation today. 
Their second effort, Don't Look Back was another chart-topper that confirmed their place in rock history, followed by Third Stage, which hit #1 on the charts, with the top single of 1986, "Amanda." With over 31 million albums sold to date, Boston's music has stood the test of time, as evidenced by live Boston audiences that span generations.
