Vashti’s first and for many years only recording, acquiring legendary status. Self-penned songs, backed by members of Fairport Convention and the Incredible String Band. Produced by Joe Boyd.  Reissued in recent years, this is the original Philips LP from 1970. I have been given to understand that there was only one pressing of approximately 900 copies but I am not sure if authoritative evidence exists to support this. Certainly the record is now extraordinarily rare.

The album is in an unlaminated gatefold sleeve which is in generally good condition with the following issues, most of which should be visible in the photos - general light soiling, a little more pronounced on the back. Wear to edges and spine, although all spine text readable. Two small areas of label damage to front - one still with residue, both having caused surface loss on removal including the loss of the text from the Philips logo at top right. Ringwear/creasing to back although not especially pronounced. Small circular mark on back, looks like some kind of stamp.

The disc itself is clean and plays well throughout with some surface noise. Vashti's voice is clear and undistorted but is very fragile, and the sparing nature of the accompaniment on some tracks, together with audible variations in recording level, make this album vulnerable to background noise. I have been able to listen to 2 other copies of this title - this one is much superior to one of them, and about on a par with the other. Visually, side 2 is unmarked and side 1 has a couple of marks/scuffs - my recollection is that these are non-sounding but I will listen again to the complete album tonight to check this and hopefully be able to respond to any individual enquiries about particular tracks. The record has been mine since 2007 and I have only played it on high quality equipment (Lyra Dorian pickup) but of course it is nearly 50 years old and I do not have its complete history. Spindle marking is visible to both labels.
