Styx Pieces Of Eight 180 GRAM FRIDAY MUSIC COLLECTORS OUT OF PRINT LIMITED EDITION AUDIOPHILE LP 180g Audiophile Vinyl Mastered by Friday Music's Joe Reagoso With Kevin Gray From Original A&M Records Tapes!

The legendary rock superstars STYX continued their arena rock assault in 1978 with their multi-platinum favorite Pieces Of Eight. As a second conceptual album following the equally successful The Grand Illusion (FRMLP4637), Pieces Of Eight would go on to be one of the more defining moments in the band’s extensive catalog of classic rock masterpieces.

Filled with Dennis DeYoung, Tommy Shaw and James Young compositions, the colossal ten track album was an exciting listen for the fans and would continue to be a much heralded album for decades, truly standing the test of time.

Rockers like Tommy Shaw’s Renegade and Blue Collar Man, plus Dennis DeYoung’s Pieces Of Eight and Lords Of The Ring enhanced their prog-rock sounds to new heights as the rock and pop music buyers were thrilled to hear these epic sounding tunes. More power tracks like Queen Of Spades, Sing For The Day and James Young’s opener Great White Hope made the Pieces Of Eight album so intriguing that rock radio programmers had no issue with playing entire sides of the album without interruption on a regular basis.

Friday Music is very proud once again to offer the audiophile dream releases of the original STYX catalog with their 1978 mega-classic Pieces Of Eight. Mastered impeccably from the original A&M Records tapes by Joe Reagoso at Friday Music Studios with Kevin Gray, and officially authorized by STYX, this amazing LP truly sounds incredible in the audiophile vinyl domain.

Styx Paradise Theatre 180 GRAM LIMITED EDITION LP
180g Vinyl LP!

Paradise Theatre is the tenth album by the rock band Styx. Originally released in 1981, Paradise Theater satisfied both camps of writers within the band, with classic hard rock tracks (from Tommy Shaw and James Young) as well as pop sensibilities (written by Dennis De Young). Hits include “Too Much Time On My Hands,” “The Best of Times,” and "Rockin’ The Paradise.” Now available on 180 gram vinyl.

A concept album, the album is a fictional account of Chicago's Paradise Theatre from its opening to closing (and eventual abandonment), used as a metaphor for America's changing times from the late 1970s into the 1980s. (Dennis DeYoung confirmed this in an episode of In the Studio with Redbeard which devoted an entire episode to the making of the album.) The album consists of four charted singles. "The Best of Times," written by Dennis DeYoung, went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Too Much Time on My Hands," written by Tommy Shaw, went to #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, Shaw's only top 10 hit for Styx. "Nothing Ever Goes as Planned," written by DeYoung, went to #54 on the US Pop Chart. "Rockin' the Paradise" — written by DeYoung, Shaw and James Young — went to #8 on the Top Rock Track Chart.

"A resounding success, Paradise Theater would become Styx's greatest commercial triumph; and in retrospect, it remains one of the best examples of the convergence between progressive rock and AOR which typified the sound of the era's top groups (Journey, Kansas, etc.)...Paradise Theater was truly the best of times." -Eduardo Rivadavia, allmusic
