When I was in high school, I suddenly found that the coolest kids were listening to black stations on the radio. And soon they were buying so many R&B records that black artists could no longer be kept off the Billboard (white) pop chart. Virtually every one of these singles was a hit in the R&B chart. In 1956 Billboard carried less than 20 numbers in the "R&B Best Sellers In Stores" chart, but Clarence "Frog Man" Henry made the top 20 of the Top 100 that year, and when every record by Fats Domino was a top ten hit in that chart, music had changed forever.
The quality of these pressings varies, because when an independent record company had a big hit, they had to buy pressings wherever they could. Some of these may have been stamped out in somebody's garage. Nevertheless they are all eminently playable, and redolent of the time before all the record companies had been soaked up by three mega internationals. I will pay postage and ship these 14 singles usps media mail in the red album.
