Along with Black Sabbath, Deep Purple pioneered metal as we know it. Featuring the classic lineup of Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice, 1972's Machine Head is a seminal example of full-on, amps-at-eleven, bang-your-head, blow-your-speakers rock. With heavy-hittin' anthems like "Smoke On The Water," "Space Truckin" and "Highway Star," Machine Head is undoubtedly the band's crowning achievement, not to mention one of the most influential hard rock albums of all time!
In honor of the iconic album's 40th Anniversary, Machine Head has been remastered in 2012 by Jon Astley at Abbey Road and pressed on audiophile 180-gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve faithfully reproducing the original cover and featuring a 6 panel lyric sheet. The package also includes a special bonus 7-inch of the "Never Before" single with the newly remastered non-album b-side, "When A Blind Man Cries," housed in a Purple Records house bag.
