Honor the Treaties is an organization dedicated to amplyfiying the voices of indigenous commnunities through art and advocacy. They do that by funding collaborations between Native artists and Native advocacy groups so that their messages can reach a wider audience. Charity board member John Densmore of The Doors and artist Shepard Fairey spearheaded this release in conjunction with Record Store Day. All net proceeds of this release will go to the charity. Peter LaFarge occupied a special niche in contemporary folk music as the first politically aware Native American to attract serious attention. He was dead before the age of 34, but LaFarge managed to make a vital and unique contribution to the early 60s folk revival.
