This double album by Bob Dylan blends blues, country, rock, and folk into a wild, careening, and dense sound. Dylan led a group comprised of several members of his touring band (The Hawks a.k.a. The Band) and session musicians through his richest set of songs. This is an album of enormous depth, providing endless lyrical and musical revelations with each play. It is comprised entirely of songs driven by inventive, surreal, and witty wordplay, not only on the rockers but also on winding, moving ballads. Throughout the record, the music matches the inventiveness of the songs, filled with cutting guitar riffs, liquid organ riffs, crisp pianos, and even a woozy brass band. It's the culmination of Dylan's electric rock & roll period -- he would never release a studio record that rocked this hard, or had such bizarre imagery, ever again.

Personnel: Bob Dylan (vocals, guitar, harmonica, piano); Bill Aikins (keyboards); Wayne Butler (trombone); Kenneth Buttrey, Bobby Gregg (drums); Rick Danko, Bill Lee, Henry Strzelecki (bass); Paul Griffin (piano); Jerry Kennedy (guitar); Al Kooper (organ, guitar); Charlie McCoy (bass, guitar, harmonica, trumpet); Wayne Moss, Jaime “Robbie” Robertson (guitar, backing vocals); Hargus “Pig” Robbins (piano, keyboards); Joe South (bass, guitar).

Note: I haven't cleaned these 54-year-old vinyl records because everybody seems to prefer their own methods. I'll leave the cleaning up to the buyer. Also, I'm not a professional vinyl seller or buyer. This comes from my own collection. Bought at Leggett’s Dept. Store, downtown Radford VA.

Enjoy the auction — and good luck!
