Per Author & Historian Scott Atwell:
Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, Buffett’s first record was a 45 r.p.m. vanity disc that featured the songs Abandoned on Tuesday and Don’t Bring Me Candy, produced in 1969 for his post-performance sales at the Admiral’s Corner Hotel in Mobile, where management had him singing for $10 per night, plus tips. Travis Turk, a local deejay who engineered recordings on the side (and also recorded Buffett’s wedding ceremony to Margie Washichek inside the chapel of Mobile’s Spring Hill College), produced the record under his Audio Mobile label. “I think we burned 25 or 50 discs and gave them to him in a box,” Turk recalled more than 50 years later in a phone call from his studio in Nashville. “But he stashed them in his mother’s attic and they melted so there aren’t many of them left.”
