1967 Jefferson Airplane Surrealistic Pillow LP Mono RCA LPM-3766
This version was pressed with mixed plates from RCA Indianapolis and RCA Rockaway.
Side A runout has a stamped "R" opposite the [etched] matrix number, which would normally indicate an RCA Rockaway pressing.
The runout on side B, however, has a serifed capital "I" stamped opposite the matrix number, which would normally indicate an RCA Indianapolis pressing. As a result, the pressing plant cannot be identified conclusively, but RCA's Rockaway facility had a pattern of mixing masters/stampers from multiple sources during this period.
Black label with white logo print and silver track listing with the RCA Victor wording on top of the label.
Issued with RCA company inner sleeve offering a "Complete RCA Victor Catalog 25¢" with RCA's Rockaway address, and date-code RCA 21-112-1-43 H
LP has some hairline scratches/scuffs that make for some surface noise during some softer passages. After listening to entire LP (never knew the mono version of this LP sounded so good) I consider it to be a solid VG listen. Vinyl is clean and has retained most of its gloss.
Jacket is worn, and I wouldn’t even begin to try and grade it (see pics). The one redeeming quality of this jacket is that both front & back graphics are good.
