Bass Man Eldee Young and Drummer Red Holt parted company with pianist Ramsey Lewis after the group had functioned together for twelve years as a unit.

For Young and Holt it was an exciting challenge. The long years of toiling in the jazz field had left them with their musical skills sharpened and their musical eyes and ears wide open to locate where they could fit in the world of entertainment.

With Ramsey Lewis, they had shared in the excitement of such walloping big hits as “The In Crowd” and “Hang on Sloopy” and the thrill of a Grammy Award. They had played in every major club and on every important state ini tihe country.

So Young-Holt set its sights on a world close to jazz but closer to where it’s at for more people -- the popular music field and they’ve come to specialize in soul swinging.
