SEX PISTOLS - The Biggest Blow 12" Rarest of ALL versions" 1978.

The first single to appear from McLaren's master scam The Great Rock n Roll Swindle bearing the Sex Pistols name, Malcolm's idea to use a former great train robber as the Sex Pistols new front man was never going to fool anyone, Biggs was in exile in Brazil so was never going to be anything other than a guest vocalist at best, the idea was a non starter and ended as quickly as it began.

Issued as a double A sided single McLaren insisted that the other track was My Way, Sid Vicious sticking his biker boots in the teeth of the Sinatra standard, starting off slow in a mockery of the original before ending with the signature Sid Vicious Sneer and a two fingered salute.

The single did well and was issued as NO ONE IS INNOCENT - McLaren pushed for the 12" to be called - COSH THE DRIVER, to give the record some added shock value but in the end Virgin bottled it and chose The Biggest Blow for the 12", McLaren however eventually got his way when the record was issued in France on his dodgy Matrixbest label.

Back to this 12" release, this is an original Italian release, the first Italian VINX 10 pressing on the Virgin label.

This 12" remained undiscovered for years it was never mentioned on any Sex Pistols discography lists - 'WHY' - because it was pressed by a small Italian record plant and after the initial Virgin order was pressed with the VINX 10 catalogue number the pressing plant closed, this meant after this initial small press was gone most Italian record shops simply stocked import versions from around Europe as no Italian pressing existed.

How many with the VINX 10 catalogue number and  more importantly printed VINX 10 sleeves were pressed is anyone's guess but one thing is sure very rarely do they come up for sale, this 12" also comes with a printed VINX 10 info sheet which was with it when it came to me.

The Sleeve has definitely seen better days and has a bit of storage wear and the odd light surface crease, the record is in far better shape with just a few very light surface marks that shouldn't affect play.

This came to me as part of a recent large purchase of punk records, this was a one in a million find within the collection.

A great 12" to own is this, and unbelievably hard to find, start price is to reflect the rarity value and current condition.
