John Lennon "John Lennon Sings The Great Rock & Roll Hits - Roots" + (Bonus Tracks) rare CD in MINT- condition.

There is a very interesting story behind the production of this withdrawn 1975 album from John. Although it does get rather long-winded and confusing!

But basically....

Recording started in the last quarter of 1973 with Phil Spector in the producing chair. But, John and Phil constantly "disagreed" over the product, and the sessions fell apart. It was put on hold until after the release of "Walls And Bridges" in September 1974.

When he returned to the album a lawsuit began against him at which point he counterclaimed again delaying the album.

The album then got a limited release as "Roots" (this version) but was very soon pulled out of circulation and withdrawn due to to further legal setbacks!

The album resurfaced with an offical release on Apple Records in 1975 simply titled 'Rock 'n' Roll'.
