COCK SPARRER - Tribute GREEN 7" SINGLE - RARE AUSTRIAN IMPORT.
Cock Sparrer founded by Colin McFaull, Mick Beaufoy, Steve "Burge" Burgess and Steve Bruce in London in 1972 they developed the style that would later be known as street punk or Oi this was also mixed with pub rock and other influences.
In 1976, Garrie Lammin joined as second guitarist, and the band met with Malcolm McLaren, who was considering managing them alongside the Sex Pistols, Sparrer declined the offer after McLaren split the meeting and left them with the bar tab.
In 1977, the band secured a deal with Decca who were hoping to cash in on the now blooming punk movement.
The first Cock Sparrer single was "Runnin' Riot", released in May 1977. After poor sales on their debut single and the follow up Decca dropped the band in 1978.
The band however refused to die and simply carried on getting bigger and better over the years, they inspired countless bands like Sham 69, Cockney Rejects, The Business, Menace and many many more.
This tribute is top notch featuring SHOCK TROOPS - THE OXYS - DROPKICK MURPHYS and DISGUSTEENS breathing new life into four Cock Sparrer Classics - Oi Oi Oi.!
Austrian import issue is in excellent condition throughout both sleeve and record, sleeve has very light superficial storage wear in places - see photos also contains two inserts.
This came from a private punk record collection I bought recently so lots more to list in the coming months.
