A gorgeous promo copy of Szeryng's classic DGG recording, the scarce ED1 tulips heavy vinyl. The box and inserts are very close to perfect, no soiling and only the most extremely minimal signs of opening and closing (not much!) at the corners, which show no soiling. Labels are all perfect with intact sample stickers. This set does not look like it was played more than once, and probably not all discs. All discs cleaned in a VPI, and the *only* sign of handling I can make out at all is an extremely faint wisp (I would not even call it a scuff, as it is so faint) on disc one. It is possibly inherent in the pressing. On my system is does not sound, unless the volume is turned up extraordinarily high and even then it is very negligable and at sound that loud it's hard to really analyze much at all. Still, I would not regard the sound here as CD-quality silent, but in line with any NOS unopened DGGs of this specific late-tulip era I have in my collection, of which I do have a good number. A
I would not call this a museum piece, but it is very, very close given the clearly minimal to nonexistent handling and play -- but it is not completely 100% flawless as though it just came off the factory floor. Short of something in that category, though, you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer copy sonically and cosmetically.
