For auction here, from a recent house clearance and fresh to the market is this Flexi Disc given to Beatles Fan Club members at Christmas 1964.
If you are here viewing I am certain you'll know exactly what you're looking at.
It comes complete with the 4 sided newsletter and the original envelope it was delivered in, complete with the East Grinstead postmark and the address label details of the female recipient.
Please note: The small green pencil in the envelope photos is just there to cover and protect the identity of the young lady the record was sent to back in 1964.
St Helens (her town) is just 12 miles or so from Liverpool city centre, so it's quite feasible that this fan maybe even visited The Cavern back in the day. We may never know but a nice thought to ponder.
I am auctioning the record as untested, because I no longer have a turntable, nor access to one. I'm selling it mainly as a collectors item, rather than to be listened to. If you want to listen to the madcap, daft, Beatles Christmas messages, they're all on Youtube.
It probably will play OK, but how well I cannot say. She was conscientious enough to hang on to the envelope, so I'm presuming she looked after her records too.
The flexi label is nice and clean. The cover has bits of age 'foxing' both front and rear and a small scuff/bit of loss to the bottom right corner on the front (see the photos), but is in good sound order, with no splits, it's nice and flat with no bending or undulations and both top and bottom 'flip backs' are still well adhered. The 4 page newsletter has minor age discolouration, as you would expect after 60 years and again a little 'foxing'. The envelope is tatty along one edge where it was eagerly ripped open all those years ago and it has BEATLES written diagonally on the rear (in pencil, so could be erased) and the word 'Auburn' close to one edge.
Please closely study ALL the photos, especially the ones I have added text to.
I have provided 20 scans / photos. Not in any particular order, just to give you an overall view. Click on the opposing arrows in the top right corner of my first image to enlarge it and then use the left & right arrows ( < > ) to view the rest. Please also read all the additional, typed information I have included in some of the photos.
I do not specialise in vinyl sales, but I have sold dozens and dozens of records (probably 300+), both albums and singles over the past 22 years here on eBay and I have never had a return or even a complaint. So bid with confidence.
I've never used any recognised grading system either, as I find them confusing. What one person regards as 'NM', another person would regard only as 'V. Good'. So please just be guided by my description(s) above and of course the pictures.
Opening price:- £55 (A relatively scarce collectable, made even more scarce with having the original envelope and newsletter).
Treat yourself for Christmas. These fan club items are usually an investment and hold their price down the years.
Postage & packing (UK) will be £4.99 which includes the cost of the Music O Max mailer they will be sent in, with 'fragile' labels where necessary and will be posted using a Tracked service with the Royal Mail.
I can ship overseas, but all shipping will be via the Global Shipping Programme (ebay) and although I will post it to the GSP depot for the same UK postage costs, you will of course have to pay their charges for the rest of its journey, as well as any import charges, taxes etc they may add, so please check with them before bidding, as it can work out quite expensive.
GOOD LUCK
