"It's still impossible to believe that Tucson's is , all , sounding for all he's worth on this exhilarating record like there are at least half a dozen guys expressing themselves on vocal harmonies alone. -- who of course writes almost everything, too -- is as enthused on percussion as he is resplendent on (many) guitars, and his production timing is sharp and complementary to all contributing tracks (even if a couple cuts on the A-side sound a teeny bit clipped at the end). But it is his upper register, some say -esque voice, that makes resonate, particularly in terms of sheer memorability factor. At least half these songs could be singalong drive-time darlings, yet they are not necessarily pop songs. The harmonious legacies of , , and even a whiff or two of are what come streaming to mind on the most addictive cuts, "So Below," "Queen Tonight," and "Dark on You Now." It is, as says himself, the strength of "harmony as the lead" that really makes this sound splash and swoop in the youthful and reassuring tradition of and . Hopefully, the world will be awake enough to recognize the brilliant "sparkle on the water" aesthetic of harmony and its character in 's signature sweet piece, "Crawl out My Window," which is as much an ode to young unsanctioned love as it is a musical approach to life literally guided by voices. A swell and utterly lovable big project by one really talented guy." -  Becky Byrkit & allmusic.com
