MORT MARKER - Live At The Chalon -- hard to find, original late 1960's (early 1970's?) U.S. album. Despite the terminally un-hip cover photo, this is actually a very good (and completely unknown) Swamp Rock - Rockabilly LP in the style of mid-1960's Charlie Rich or Tony Joe White/Joe South, also latter-day Link Wray and Gene Vincent. This was apparently recorded live with surprisingly excellent sound, and although he's holding an acoustic guitar on the cover, it's pretty much wall-to-wall electric guitar with some seriously chugging organ in the background. Excellent covers of Matchbox, Big Boss Man, Hoyt Axton's Never Been To Spain, Walk A Mile in My Shoes, and a soulful, gritty Baby What You Want Me To Do. Damn good stuff, and totally off the radar. See photos for track list. Cover: VG, heavy ring wear, wear at corners and along top seam (back cover is blank white). Record: VG/VG+, light surface wear, light background noise in spots from quality of original private pressing, on red private label, U.S. press.
