Rare Original 1st press UK 45" released in 1961 on the Silver & Red Parlophone Records Label. Cat: R-4814. Comes with original Parlophone Label paper sleeve. Paper sleeve is in VG+ condition. 

As the Raiders, Gary Le Port (lead guitar), Jimmy Rayther (rhythm guitar), Pete Johnson (bass) and Tony White (drums) were fronted originally by singer Robert Farrent (stage name: Bobby Shafto) but in 1960 it was with Rod Stewart that they were auditioned in a north London church hall by Joe Meek who was seeking an instrumental act to record an opus entitled ‘Night Of the Vampire’. Submitting to Meek’s masterplan, they cast Stewart aside and, as the Moontrekkers, were rewarded with one week at number 50 in the UK Top 50 and a BBC ban because of this Parlophone Records single’s sound effects (creaking coffin lid, wailing wind).  

These singles are part of a lovely collection of original English 45's brought to Australia over 30 years ago when an English couple migrated to Australia. An avid music fan this gentleman followed many of the bands in the day from the late 50's through the 60's seeing everyone from the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Animals, Yardbirds, Bo Diddley, Gene Vincent just to name a few. These singles are a great representation of his passion for rock N roll and the many artists who were playing at the time. Most of them are still with original record company paper sleeves and are all in amazing condition considering they are over 50 years old!! Both sides of label are clean with no signs of tears, sticker stains or marks. Record has some light scuff marks and a few very light scratches. There are a few light crackles throughout. Record plays in VG++ condition.
