Minimal House/Tech House

Side 1. RequiemSide 2 - Track 1. MongolSide 2 - Track 2. Ankaris

Returning with his second EP after debuting on Innervisions last year, Lithuanian producer Mario Basanov's Ten Walls project certainly shares headspace with the likes of Ame and Dixon, working brooding tones and dramatic chord progressions into his finely balanced tech house. The title track is more minimal in its delivery, certainly in the rhythm section, but its offset by a bombastic tuba bass line that fills in the gaps with style. "Mongol" is a more ranging affair with some melodic percussion and a wider sound palette that heads into more open territory, which was undoubtedly the intention if the title is anything to go by. "Ankaris" meanwhile strips everything back down again and gets into an edgy progression steeped in carefully orchestrated tension.
