Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them.
Delbert McClinton and Glen Clark had been knocking around the Texas rock scene for more than a decade before teaming up in California for a couple of albums in the early 1970s. The first of these, Delbert & Glen is, despite their California transplantation, very much a Texas record, blending blues, country, soul, gospel, and rock & roll. The feel of the album is very much that of a seasoned bar band, albeit a bar band with mostly original material. It wasn't the kind of thing that was going to set the charts afire in 1972, though surprisingly enough the pensive ballad "I Received a Letter" sneaked into the bottom of the Top 100. Several of the songs might be more familiar to some listeners in different versions: the Blues Brothers did "'B' Movie Box Car Blues," Rita Coolidge had already done "I Feel the Burden (Being Lifted Off My Shoulders)," Bonnie Raitt (with whom Clark would play keyboards) did "Sugar Daddy" (as "Sugar Mama"), and McClinton himself would remake "Ain't What You Eat but the Way How You Chew It," "'B' Movie Box Car Blues," and "I Received a Letter" on his solo albums.
Tracks: Old standby/ Ain't what you eat but the way how you chew it/ I received a letter/ I feel the burdon (being lifted off my shoulders)/ "B" movie box car blues/ Everyday will be like a holiday/ All them other good things/ Sugar daddy/ Here comes the blues again/ Rosie's (The working girl's hotel)/ C.O.D.
There are no signs of spindle marks on labels. Record has a few very faint scuff marks and is in Near Mint condition. Cover has a few tiny marks and age spots and one very tiny surface tear on bottom centre edge, cover is in Excellent condition.
