Here the louche and debonair duo deal out a series of reinterpretations of songs that originally appeared on last year's 'TV En Francais' platter, the 'under the sea' tag hinting at a direction that is not entirely unplugged, but rather offering a darker and more restrained mirror image of a collection of addictive indie rock ditties. Moreover, the hooks and harmonies of the likes of 'Dumb Luck' and 'Make It Easy' remain as indelible as ever. Less a stopgap curio, more a testimony to this curious band's ineffable charm, whereby their trademark powerpop flourishes collide with a newfound sense of sonic adventure.
