The Beatles
PLEASE PLEASE ME
TRUE 4th PRESS UK LP
EJ Day cover
174g
MT tax code too

This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

LOVELY & EARLY

Vinyl:
QUALITY 174g!
G+. Gorgeous, heavy vinyl...Still has it's sheen. She does carry some needle marks-After playing the whole record through, I found a tiny, tiny skip on 'Boys' and another tiny, tin skip right at the end of There's a place. Unfortunately the last track on side 2 has 2 sticks....maybe a good clean and a slightly heavier stylus than mine will play over these-but not sure, so am pointing out for you to be aware.
The rest of the album blasts out raw early Beatles with some background noise in the quieter sections, but when the songs get going-TURN HER UP!
The Beatles in all their original glory.
FLAT, HEAVY AND SHINY-ORIGINAL!

Labels: EX-. There is just a small amount of central hole wear as seen in the pictures. With light spindle marks.
Other than that the labels stand out nice and clean, with no writing or rips.
CORRECT 4th PRESS
These labels are getting harder to find as only a relatively small amount were pressed....
ONLY 25,000 ever pressed
Outer rim text starts with "The Parlophone Co.Ltd"
NO "Recording First Published 1963" stated under the printed matrix number.
Carries the much more unusual MT tax code to side 1.
******************
(This MT tax code was used from January 1963 only until the 1st of June 1963...a very short running indeed)

VERY DISPLAYABLE

Inner: EX. ORIGINAL USE EMITEX Poly-lined inner....Only light creasing and discolouration.
VERY EARLY TOO AS IT CARRIES THE "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" TEXT
MADE IN ENGLAND

Cover: VG-. It has been to a few parties-but still loved.
Made of strong card
There is some spidering to the front laminate with the edges and corners being rubbed-nothing terrible.
SUPER STRONG SPINE-with title still legible.
NO SPLITS
FAR FROM TRASHED
A genuine Ernest J.Day & Co cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front...These are rarer than the Garrod & Lofthouse sleeves, with a ration of around 1:10 in manufacturing.

LARGE MONO

ALL IN ALL THIS IS AN INCREASINGLY RARER 4TH PRESSING OF AN ICONIC ALBUM...WOULD DEFINATELY MAKE A VERY GOOD FILLER.
WITH THE RARER E J DAY COVER & MT TAX CODE TOO!
