The soundtrack to Clayton Vomero's '3OHA' (or 'Zona' in English) is made up of original recordings by Alex Epton and Lucinda Chua. The film itself was shot in Ukraine and Russia and is about the livers of a collection of outsiders. As such the music is occult and unusual, a tense mix of ambient, found sounds, field recordings and subversive synths that keep you on edge every step of the way. For every moment of darkness and harshest, there is a more tender passage of vulnerability, or an abstract voice being heavily affected by filters. Beguiling, for sure.
