Over the next few weeks I will be listing some wonderful Jazz titles from a recently acquired Jazz collection. The original owner passed away back in 1985 and his sister decided to hold onto them for sentimental reasons. She had not touched or played them since then (1985!!). The records are in stunning condition for their age many, apart from a few light age spots on the covers, look like they walked off the shelf yesterday. I hope you enjoy viewing and possibly purchasing these wonderful jazz vinyl artifacts as much as i have in preparing them for sale and listening to them!!

Expanding on the concept of Songs for Young Lovers!, In the Wee Small Hours was a collection of ballads arranged by Nelson Riddle. The first 12" album recorded by Sinatra, Wee Small Hours was more focused and concentrated than his two earlier concept records. It's a blue, melancholy album, built around a spare rhythm section featuring a rhythm guitar, celesta, and Bill Miller's piano, with gently aching strings added every once and a while. Within that melancholy mood is one of Sinatra's most jazz-oriented performances he restructures the melody and Miller's playing is bold throughout the record.

Tracks: In the wee small hours of the morning/ Mood indigo/ Glad to be unhappy/ I get along without you very well/ Deep in a dream/ I see your face before me/ Can’t we be friends/ When your lover has gone/ What is this thing called love/ Last night when we were young/ I’ll be around/ Ill wind/ It never entered my mind/ Dancing on the ceiling/ I’ll never be the same/ This love of mine.

There are a few very light spindle marks on labels. Record is has a few light scuff marks that cause a few very light crackles and is in Near Mint condition. Cover with back flaps has a small pen mark on back top right and a few light age spots and is in Excellent condition.
