Since making her debut on Running Circle in 2017, soul-stress Yazmin Lacey has released a handful of high-quality records, most notably a suitably summery 12" on First Word Records. Here she delivers her first new solo material in two years, inviting us to celebrate morning-time in her own unique way. There's much to soothe and seduce the senses throughout, from the languid and hazy neo-soul opener "Own Your Own" and the simply superb "Morning Matters", where lilting trumpet lines and jazzy electric piano keys spar with Lacey's lead vocal, to the gently reggae-influenced summer soul of "Morning Sunrise".
