It's album number five for the Georgia sister act Larkin Poe, who sound as confident, assured and authoritative as ever. Driven in equal parts by a commanding blues undertow, roots rock riffs and the leave-no-prisoners vocal prowess of Rebecca Lovell, the sum of these parts is once again enough to win over new faithful followers and make newcomers immediately fall head over heels. There's certainly plenty going on here. Tyler Bryant guest stars on 'Back Down South', a loving but honest ode to the band's home region in the US, and its world famous musical legacy. A soulful stomp carries the subtly danceable 'Tears of Blue To Gold', while natural, earthy guitar chords define the more-than-slightly-sardonic 'She's A Self Made Man'. Back on fine form, to say the least.
