Jazz
When Amancio D'Silva recorded his debut album back in 1969, the Italian jazz guitarist was still settling into a new life in the UK. Since its release, the album has gone on to become something of a "must-have" for serious jazz collectors. This re-mastered reissue offers an opportunity to those without massive record buying budgets to get hold of a copy for the first time. It's a fine set, all told, with D'Silva's fluid and relentless jazz guitar solos riding a variety of jazz grooves. Some are sweet, horn heavy and jaunty, while others are atmospheric, slow and softly spoken. He even doffs a cap to looser, improvised "free jazz", Indian mysticism (on the exotic and evocative "Maharani" and hushed film soundtracks (brilliant closer "Joyce Country").
