Joe Bonamassa's name hangs with the weight of authority. One of the finest blues guitarists not to win a Grammy (yet), over the last 30 years his reputation among the rock 'n' roll community has grown from young upstart (getting his first big break at the age of 13 opening for B.B. King) to living legend; a guy who once looked up to the greats, and is now considered among them.

This is LP number 16, discounting live albums, and it's another guitar education. Recorded at Abbey Road, the album looks to celebrate the 1960s British blues explosion with a set of tracks raw enough to have been laid down then, drawing heavily on the genre's US birthplace, while owing some debt to Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. But it's not emulating that formative era UK homegrown. Instead, it's the culmination of a sound over half a century in the making.
