Roc Marciano released his critically acclaimed debut album Marcberg back in May 2010. It was a real game changer that took the art of hip hop to another level as well as introducing a now ubiquitous lo-fi sound. Its legacy looms large 20 years later and hence this anniversary edition comes as a specially remastered, double picture disc. The record eschews the auto-tune sounds that were already prevalent at the time and takes an honest look at contemporary life. Hard hitting and unremorseful, it has perfectly crafted rhymes and fresh insight paired with aching production and great samples. What a record.
