Meitei closes out his triptych of lost Japanese moods with another excellent record that interrogates "artforms and aesthetics as a provocation." It is a study of the lost art of ghost story telling with a very distinct musical flavour that is deliberately playful as it joins the dots between the past and the present. Lo-fi ambient with tender pianos, foggy atmospheres run through with pained vocal sounds and tape drift, enchanting lullabies layered with years of dust and dirt, it's an insular world where dark and light co-exists, where tension and beauty are happy bed fellows. This records feels sacred and traditional while also being utterly new and fresh.
