Please Please Me
(Black and Gold) 1st press!!
**With VERY early 1P/1L Mothers/Stampers**
Well, this was the start of something HUGE! Here we have the very first pressing of the Beatles' first released album, from the 22nd of March 1963.
It was the first and only time the MONO version was released before the STEREO version.
She entered the charts on the 6th of April and climbed to the top slot-staying there for a huge CONSECUTIVE 30 weeks, from May!...Maybe HUGE is too small a word for it?!
Catalogue Number: PMC 1202
Side 1: XEX 421-1N
Side 2: XEX 422-1N
Mothers & Stampers:
Side 1: 1/P
Side 2: 1/L
!!!INCREDIBLY EARLY PRESSING HERE!!!!
She carries the marks of a few parties ;) However, I have just finished listening to the whole album and found a very nice sound reproduction.
*NO SKIPS, JUMPS OR STICKS*
There is only some VERY occasional LIGHT backgound noise found on just a couple of the quieter sections. Even the run-ins were lovely and quiet! I just noticed a few light pops at the end of I Saw Her Standing There, into the very start of Misery-but these were very soft and light and not offensive at all.
The audio really was stunning and I was very tempted to keep her for myself!
Still raw and powerful!
PURE QUALITY AUDIO
These labels have survived very well indeed.
NO WRITING TO EITHER SIDE.
There is only some light hole wear to both sides-please see the detailed pictures provided.
The Parlophone Company' edge lower case text.
NO 'Sold In The UK' text.
NO 'First Published' text,
Small 33 1/3
The only point of note is a faint outline of some old sticker residue to the side 1 label-but this is reaslly only noteable when angled towards the light.
Carries the 1st printing with the DICK JAMES CREDITS:
Songs 1,2,6 & 7 on side 1 as well as songs 4 & 6 on side 2 have the "DICK JAMES MUS. Co." credit.
The cover has also survived well and remains solid.
The back of the ORIGINAL & rarer Ernest. J. Day has some lines of spidering-near the opening and to the bottom right and left corners, with a further small line to the top left corner...Please see the detailed images for yourselves.
These covers were made at a ratio of roughly 1:10 of the more common Garrod & Lofthouse covers.
The bottom right corner has a small split of approx 5cm but would not be visible when framed. Each of the corners have some rubbing as can be seen in the images provided, with the back top left corner having a 1cm piece of the flipback missing.
To the back is an address and "Beatles For Sale" in a bubble to the top right.
The spine is in a superb legible state without rubbing.
Angus McBean is in the extreme bottom right corner on the front....Showing this to be the very 1st printing of this iconic cover...You can see it on the edge of the bottom right corner in the photo's.
The front cover is still very bright.
WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED.
Original "Use Emitex" plastic lined inner. In TOP SHAPE!
NO SPLITS & NO WRITING.
There is just a couple of very small spots of discolouration-Nothing offensive what-so-ever..
It is also the earliest you could hope for as it has the "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" text to the botom left corner of one side!
PLEASE SEE THE DETAILED IMAGES PROVIDED AND READ MY HONEST FEEDBACK FOR TRUE GRADINGS AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
ALL IN ALL THIS IS A VERY 1ST COPY OF THE BEATLES' VERY FIRST EXPLOSION ONTO THE SCENE-A SCENE WHICH WOULD REMAIN CHANGED FOREVER FOLLOWING THIS RELEASE.
SHE WOULD SIT PROUD IN ANYONES COLLECTION.
