Mark Murphy is often heralded as one of the greatest jazz singers of all time. Despite this his profile never quite matched popular opinion. He maintained a cult status and the highlight of his recording career came in 1968 with his Midnight Mood album. Two of the best tunes from that SABA release now get pressed on 45 for the first time ever. Opener 'Sconsolato' has a distinctly Latin flavour to the swaying rhythms and patter of drums, with great reed work heightening the feels. On the flip is 'Just Give Me Time' which is a more overtly steamy and sexy bossa number with room-filing sound and Mark's unique vocals front and centre.
