One of this week's most surprising releases comes from the Italian born/Berlin-based Midgar imprint, a fairly underground operation specialising in the more hypnotic strains of techno. They present a remastered version of Japanese electronica legend Susumu Yokota's Acid Mt. Fuji album, which first came out on Sublime Records in 1994. It's a collection of mesmerising tracks which exist on the more experimental fringes, many of them are ambient for the most part with meditative tribal rhythms introduced at some point, which add to the altogether trance-inducing qualities of the album. On the second half of the record, as heard on 'Tambarin' or 'Alphaville' in particular are some cerebral slow burners you'd probably have heard in the morning at mid '90s raves. Timeless.
