Looptroop is a Swedish rap group that made its album debut in 2001 and ascended to Top Five success a couple albums later. Founded in 1991 in Västerås, Sweden, Looptroop is comprised of Promoe (aka Mårten Edh; born Nils Mårten Edh on April 28, 1976), Supreme (born Mattias Lundh-Isen on January 12, 1978), Embee (born Magnus Bergkvist on February 24, 1977), and CosM.I.C (born Lars Isacsson on May 18, 1975). They made their recording debut in the mid-'90s with a series of demo tapes, Superstars (1993), Threesicksteez (1995), and From the Waxcabinet (1996), the latter of which was released commercially as the group's debut EP. Several other early EPs followed -- Fuck a Record Deal (1996), Unsigned Hype (1997), Heads or Tails (1998), and Schlook from Birth (1998) -- plus another demo, Punx Not Dead (1998). Looptroop made their full-length album debut in 2000 with Modern Day City Symphony on their own label, David vs. Goliath. The album spawned a couple singles, "Ambush in the Night" and "Long Arm of the Law," and was a minor hit, reaching number 43 on the Swedish albums chart. Promoe subsequently made his full-length solo album debut with Government Music (2001) while Embee and Cos.M.I.C teamed up as the Casual Brothers and released an eponymous EP in 2002. The second Looptroop album, The Struggle Continues (2002), reached the Top 20, as did The Long Distance Runner (2003), the second album by Promoe, whose solo output more or less mirrored that of the group's from a commercial standpoint.
