The PAWN SHOP (CHARLIE CHAPLIN) – RKO Productions Systems (RCA PHOTOPHONE Inc.) – This sale is for two 12” discs that were the music and sound effects for the CHARLIE CHAPLIN short The Pawn Shop. There are two 12” discs, each a one sided 33 1/3 rpm. Both disc are stamped “7051” as well as “3-35-06-1” for the first disc and “3-35-06-2” for the second.
These discs tend to degrade sonically from repeated playing. These have loud surface noise that competes with and often overwhelms the music. Unless you have experience with audio restoration I would only purchase these for their significance to film history, talkies and CHAPLIN. They are graded Fair to Poor. The records don’t look as bad as they sound so with the proper needle the sound might improve.
