Back in 2020, Meitei served up his Kofu? album as a way of ending a period of musical exploraiton that had started with 2018's Kwaidan and led on to 2019's Komachi. Each one was an immersive and storytelling trip with wistful compositions drawn from ambient, hauntology and mystique concrete. There were some 60 tracks left over after that last album and so they have been made into Kofu II, which is awash in eastern charm, lush melody and innocent ampler that range from flutes to keys to children's monologues. The whole thing bustles with harmony, lo-fi tape fade and bewildering detail that makes it a hugely involving listen.
