CARPENTERS OFFERING PROMO RARE ORIGINAL SLEEVE WHITE LABEL MONARCH PRESSING 1969
This vinyl record is an extremely rare Carpenters/record collector’s find. Not only is this a great, clean copy of Karen and Richard Carpenter’s first ever album (first titled ‘Offering’ before being repackaged as ‘Ticket to Ride’), but it is a promotional copy that was presumably sent out to a radio station back in 1969.
One of the little known reasons this album is so cool is because Karen not only plays the drums on every track, but also plays electric bass on ‘All of My Life’ and ‘Eve.’ She was taught to play the bass by the famous Joe Osborn, who the Carpenters met during Karen’s time signed to his label, ‘Magic Lamp.’
The record jacket does unfortunately have some damage/wear on it including a tear in the middle of the cover and permanent marker on both the jacket and the label of the record as seen in photos, but the vinyl itself is practically pristine as if only played a few times. The jacket has some leftover adhesive from a cassette sticker in the upper left corner that can most likely be further carefully removed.
***Side 1 does have warping heard on all of the tracks on that side, but Side 2 plays very well. The record is currently being laid flat to correct the warping, and should be improved. (See photos for visuals of these notes).
The record plays beautifully overall, and has pretty minimal pops, clicks or skips! The record will come cleaned. Again, please see pictures.
Please feel free to message me with any questions about this item!
