Led Zeppelin II' 1969 Original Presswell RL SS HOT MIX Ultrasonically cleaned.

Led Zeppelin II' 1st pressing stereo LP with "RL” on both sides and “SS” on side 2. Issued in 1969. Condition is as pictured.

The LP has crackling during the quiet portions but is tolerable. This album in this mix has to be the most powerful Rock album ever recorded. The original gatefold cover is also in VG condition. The top of the cover is peeling slightly but not split. Labels are super clean with no spindle marks or writing. Original inner sleeve included. The LP stored separately in a MOFI sleeve. Insurance included with shipping cost.

BACKGROUND ON LP

US 1st pressing (with the 1841 Broadway address on the labels), featuring Robert Ludwig's "hot" mastering on both sides. These were withdrawn early because the high bass levels caused low-grade cartridges to mistrack, leading people to return the album on the belief that it was defective. Another engineer was then hired to recut a much less "hot" version of the album, and that is the far more common version.

On some copies the Sterling Sound credit, "SS", appears in both runouts following Ludwig's "RL", and on others the "SS" appears only in the Side Two runout. The "RL" will still appear in both runouts.

Comes in a gatefold sleeve.

For those who aren't aware, the earliest pressings of 'Led Zeppelin II' were mastered by legendary mastering engineer Robert Ludwig. Ludwig cut the album with such tremendous bass that the average record buyer's cheap turntable couldn't handle it, leading many to erroneously return their copies as defective. Atlantic Records responded by having another, less talented, engineer re-cut the album, thereby sucking all the power out of it! Most every copy of "Led Zeppelin II" one will come across was pressed from the latter cut, while only the very earliest pressings contain Ludwig's
