CURLY CURVE – Curly Curve. Klimt Records MJJ-408CG. French release. FACTORY SEALED NEW VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1973 on Brain Records. This limited edition reissue issued in 2020. Pressed on gray opaque vinyl and comes in a heavy board stock gatefold cover with hype sticker. According to Discogs this tracks at 45rpms, elsewhere I’ve seen it listed as being a 33rpm (this is a sealed copy, so we’ll move on for now). MUSICIANS:  Hanno Bruhn (guitar, vocals), Martin Knaden (guitar), Chris Axel Klober (keyboards), Hans Wallbaum (drums), and Kurt Herkenberg (bass, vocals). Engineered at the hands and ears of Dieter Dierks.

DESCRIPTION:  Curly Curve were a German band based in Berlin that formed in 1968 and split up around 1975. Instead of the krautrock/progressive rock that many of their contemporaries were recording, they mainly played a style of progressive blues-rock influenced by what was happening in London in late 1967-68 where bassist Herkenberg had spent some time jamming and soaking up the scene before returning to Germany and co-founding the band. By the early 70s traces of the West Coast & Fillmore style jam bands crept into their sound along with the harder progressive rock of Deep Purple with maybe a dash of Hendrix, some fine dual guitar work too. They were in the same vein as German band Atlantis, fronted by vocalist Inga Rumpf; former Curly Curve guitarist Alex Conti would join Atlantis shortly before the recording of this album.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers with inside packing.
