The BEATLES
PLEASE PLEASE ME
RARE
1 Box EMI

Heavy 145g Vinyl
*Complete & EX condition throughout*

This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

The record I have for sale here:

LOVELY AND EARLY HERE

This pressing is one of the very first 7th presses, making the transition from the Yellow Parlophone labels in 1969. The format wasn't liked with just the one EMI box and was quickly withdrawn, only to be re-released as the 8th press, but this time with the more common 2 box EMI label. Not many of these 1 box EMI labels made it through the net....and remain hard to find!

Vinyl:

I have given her a gentle vaccum clean and popped her onto my deck..
I am just listening to the vinyl right now, turned right up....WOW....takes you right back to the magical 60's FAB!!! The Beatles in all their original glory.
There are only light marks to the record but there are quite a few of these light marks.
There is barely any background noise-and this is only occasionally found inbetween songs.
She plays fantastically well, with just some very light and very, VERY occasional background noise-a couple of light pops on Taste of Honey...Not really worth mentioning.
Certainly nothing to detract from the raw magic of The Beatles' 1st album in Stereo!
FLAT as the day she was born.
NO JUMPS OR SKIPS

Labels:
EX.

There is barely any central hole wear, as seen in the pictures, with just a handful of light spindle trails, visible when angled to the light. They really stand out nice and clean, with no writing or anything to detract from it's gorgeousness.

Outer rim text starts with "The Gramophone Co.Ltd" with no "Recording First Published" text. The later labels had the outer rim text stating an "EMI recording..."

*Very displayable*

Cover:
EX.

She really is in great condition!
Front laminated, with just a few small lines of spidering-nothing bad at all.
It is a genuine Garrod and Lofthouse cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front.
Rounded corner 3 flipbacks.
SMALL STEREO TO TOP RIGHT CORNER
THIS COVER HAS NOT BEEN SWAPPED OUT...IT IS ALL GENUINE!!!!
She would frame incerdibly well.
To the back is a music store label from Malta...this could be removed if you so wished.
STRONG and LEGIBLE spine.

The Inner:
EX+.

ORIGINAL EMI advertising inner in FAB condition! A collectors piece in it's own right!
PATENTS APPLIED FOR statement too-showing how earlt this baby is.

A REAL COLLECTORS ITEM IN SUPER CONDITION
NOT MANY OF THESE PRESSINGS WERE PRODUCED AND WERE ARGUABLY SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE BLACK AND GOLD LABEL!
(The Record Collector mag has an interesting article in their May 2012 edition)

THIS IS A SOLID EXAMPLE OF AN INCREASINGLY RARE RECORD....WITH GREAT AUDIO TOO!
