1. The Avengers Main Title

The now-famous theme from the first series; a hard-hitting, jaunty musical delight!

2. Theme from "Obsession

One of the rare departures from the land of limbo, this time with human emotions involved. Purdey is reunited with a former fiance (Martin Shaw, later to star in The Professionals), but the story ends not happily, but in tragedy. Musically, the theme is one of regret for what might have been.

3. Theme from "Cat Amongst The Pigeons" Purdey in danger in an atmospheric pastiche reminiscent of Hitchcock's The Birds. A mad ornithologist is training killer birds with which to rule the world. Purdey is stalked, watched and pursued by them. Steed is attacked in his car by a killer falcon but finally and characteristically overpowers it with one deft movement of his bowler, while driving at full speed.

4. Theme from "The Joker"

Emma Peel is isolated in an empty country house surrounded by thick fog. Hiding in the house is a rejected admirer from her past. He is also a homicidal maniac, beautifully mannered but potty.

These twin characteristics are reflected in the music.

5. Theme from "Tale Of The Big Why"

The trio embark on a sort of treasure hunt, following clues across the countryside. The feel of the music is essentially urbane; the Avengers are not rustics but big-city sophisticates. As Purdy speeds ahead on her motorbike, with Steed and Gambit in their cars, the music seems to say, "Off we go again!"

6. Theme from "Pandora"

wreathed in mists and shadows, is of a remote and glassy beauty.
