THREE Historic 78 shellac records on the Columbia label from the legendary Billie Holiday! All three are from a three record SET, all from a single performance in the mid 30's… Purchased recently from a radio stations' archive. Stored in a closed case in protective heavy green card stock archival covers. These are in EX-/VG+ condition, showing very little age and excellent gloss with NO FEELABLE SCRATCHES and nearly no scuff either, as you can see by the HD scans! Very glossy with nearly no play wear or evidence of play, small name on the labels.  The HD audio sample below is full range of a RANDOMLY picked side, as all are in the same relative condition, UNFILTERED and with no EQ rolloff on the highs, so you can hear things you NEVER hear in the reissue recordings. 
The original 78's while a little lacking in fidelity, DID in fact have a much better frequency spread than is represented in reissues we hear today. The remastering process often rolls off the high end, as they didn't think there was anything there worth hearing (and certainly there was some surface noise and hiss)… BUT I think different! I archived this using a special 78 stylus for my Shure M44 cartridge that really brings out the fullness of these old grooves! Truly splendid originals, that you very rarely see anymore, much less in this amazing condition! Enjoy the full song, featured below in HD streaming audio with the trail on and trail out grooves…no filtration and no rolloff. A treat for your ears! 
While there are a few artifacts in these old 78's that account for the random ticks that are non-repeating, you are hearing what these 78's most likely sounded like when they were new. There noise is from the primitive materials used and inherent in the pressing process… but the fact of the matter is, these were taken from fresh masters that sounded better than the source masters used for the CD and reissue versions we hear today… so it's entirely likely that this version will sound better than those in many ways, which is why these originals still sell!
