CONDITION DETAILS UK Import. Vinyl plays nicely (play-graded). Cover looks great; a few creases near edges; very light-scuffing, a couple tiny surface abrasions, and surface impressions (front/back); spot near top-right where gloss has been removed on front. Inner-sleeve is original (generic white). Spine is easy-to-read with mild-wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge; wear to corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. Teal colored label. (Not a cut-out.)

ABOUT THE RECORD The New Collection is a compilation album of early Elton John songs. John and lyricist Bernie Taupin were credited with many hit songs. On this album are such hits as Crocodile Rock which is a song that became John's first U.S. No. 1 single, reaching the top spot on February 3, 1973, and stayed there for three weeks. In the U.S., it was certified Gold on February 5, 1973 and Platinum on September 13, 1995 by the RIAA. Another featured song, Someone Saved My Life Tonight refers to a time in 1969, before John was a popular musician, when John was engaged to be married to his girlfriend, Linda Woodrow. John and Woodrow were sharing a flat with Taupin in Furlong Road in London, hence the opening line "When I think of those East End lights." While having serious doubts about the looming marriage, John contemplated suicide. The song went to No. 4 and has been certified gold in the U.S. Candle in the Wind was originally written in 1973, in honor of Marilyn Monroe, who had died 11 years earlier.
