Here for auction is an extremely rare monophonic 1968 copy of Captain Beefheart’s second album, STRICTLY PERSONAL, complete with its original superb gatefold still in clean and fresh condition.

Rare in any condition, this delightful item was purchased in 1978 in Liverpool, by singer/author Julian Cope, who kept it safe and clean thereafter in a clear gatefold outer polythene bag.

The item is a joy to behold, both its inner and outer gatefold devoid of marks or even proper usage, while its spine remains straight, fresh and almost unused.

Both sides of the record have been played and their condition carefully noted:

Side 1:

1. ‘Ah Feel Like Ahcid’ starts quietly with no extraneous noise, but the track exhibits a small amount of occasional surface crackle later on.

2. ‘Safe As Milk’ is clean until the tailout, when one small crackle is detectable.

3. ‘Trust Us’ is very clean, save for a pop about two minutes into the song. Thereafter, there are occasional but small flourishes of surface noise and a few pops in the tail-out groove that leads to track 4.

4. ‘Son of Mirror Man – Mere Man’ is clean.

Side 2:

1. Side 2 begins with ‘On Tomorrow’, which exhibits a couple of random pops early on, but there are several pops as the track segues into Track 2.

2. ‘Beatle Bones n’ Smokin’ Stones’ is clean save for very occasional minimal surface noise.

3. ‘Gimme Dat Harp Boy’ is clean save for a couple of random pops.

4. ‘Kandy Korn’ concludes the album, clean save for a single pop.
