Bruton Music LP – Tempus Fugit by Francis Monkman. Pressed in 1978.

One of the rare ones.

In 1979, when I was an art college student, I went on industrial release to an industrial film company. The MD gifted me this LP because at the time I was into making my own sci-fi films and the idea was I could use some of this session music on the soundtracks.

I think I only ever played the LP once. It looks pretty much unplayed and is bright and shiny and clean. It is however quite DUSTY (check out the 3rd photo) - so please be aware you’ll need to wipe it with an appropriate anti-static cleaning cloth. My turntable is currently NG.

I cannot vouch for the current sound playing quality – so please forgive me for saying those are the sale terms. However, for such a clean and scratch free record I don’t anticipate problems.

If you angle it to the light and obsess, you can see some overall very faint hairline surface marks as you do on almost any vinyl record, probably caused by it being slid in and out of the paper sleeve. But this LP has clearly had minimal handling and use.

The outer orange textured sleeve is a good clean example. I’ve seen Bruton LPs fetch silly money in sleeves that grade only VG.

This one has light edge and corner wear, mostly along the bottom edge caused by it being slid on and off a shelf at the studio. No creasing. Some faint surface marks – possibly dirt spots - if you hold it to the light. The sleeve top edge corner tip – where it is worn (see photo 6) - has a very slight but discreet split in the card a few millimetres long.

The white part of the sleeve on the back has some light dirt and a few small faint yellow marks.

The main sleeve issue is that the orange colour has faded down the spine from where it was subjected to UV light while stored in the studio library. Remember these were working albums in clunkier analogue times where stuff was accessed physically, not in the digital domain.

Probably in record grading terms the sleeve grades somewhere in the EX to EX- range (Excellent to Excellent minus).

The original cream white inner paper sleeve shows minimal evidence of handling, mostly along the opening edge.

This record will be sent to you BOXED and insanely well packed.
