Ordinary Man by Christy Moore  WEA IR-0706 1985
12" Vinyl Album
The offered item is understood to be a first edition of a 1985 album that contains a controversial track, written by Moore, entitled 'They Never Came Home' (B5). the song is inspired by the tragedy of a fire in the 'Stadust' nightclub in Dublin on 14 Feb 1981, when 48 people died and over 200 were injured when it was alleged that the fire escapes in the club were chained shut.
The law suit was unsettled at the time the album was released, and Moore was found guilty of contempt of court (for releasing the track which cricises management). Early copies of the album were withdrawn from shops and the album was re-issued with a replacement track. The original song is still thought to be considered libelous in Ireland.
