Plastic Beach is the third studio album by Gorillaz. Less dark in style than Gorillaz's second album Demon Days, Plastic Beach brings together artists from everything from punk rock to rap, with the likes of ex-Clash members Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, the likes of Lou Reed, Mos Def, the ViVA Symphony, Snoop Dogg, De La Soul, Bobby Womack, Mark E. Smith, Bashy, Kano, Little Dragon, and the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. The album was first released in Japan on March 3, 2010, and was later released in the UK on March 8, where it debuted at number two on the charts selling 100,000 copies. in his first week. In the United States it debuted for the first time the next day, March 9, at number two on the Billboard 200 selling 200,000 copies in its first week, 70,000 of which were distributed digitally. In France the album debuted at number 3. As of March 26, the album had already sold approximately 377,000 records worldwide, making it one of the most anticipated albums of 2010.
